Naples airport closes for all of November for runway rebuild, shifting some flights to Salerno

GESAC said the €30 million project will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and was scheduled for a period that historically has the least air traffic. Salerno is serving 15 domestic and international destinations during the closure using both of its terminals, with carriers including Ryanair, easyJet, ITA Airways, Vueling and Iberia. Other airlines have canceled their Naples services for the month, Travel Monitor reported.

GESAC also added special buses between Naples' Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno airport, plus fixed-fare shared taxis to the main rail stations in Naples and Salerno.

Why it matters: Naples is a main gateway to the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento and Capri. Travel Monitor advised travelers flying there this month to check which airport their flight now uses and to allow for a longer transfer.
