Taiwan says China's handling of its APEC summit invitation broke with established practice
Lin said China did not arrange for an official to deliver the invitation in person and sent it by email instead, though he noted the email used Taiwan's official APEC name, "Chinese Taipei," Focus Taiwan reported. He accused Beijing of repeatedly giving Taiwan "differential treatment" at APEC meetings it has hosted this year.
Lin said Taiwan is a full APEC member and would protest any departure from established practice, but would not give up its right to take part, according to Focus Taiwan and the Taipei Times.
Why it matters: APEC is one of the few international forums where Taiwan takes part alongside China, under the name Chinese Taipei, and this year's summit is being held in mainland China.
