Netflix hires former Apple Podcasts executive Steve Wilson to lead podcast acquisitions

Wilson spent 15 years at Apple and later served as chief strategy officer at podcast companies QCode and Daylight Media, Variety reported. Netflix now offers more than 60 video podcasts, according to Variety.

The hire comes two weeks after Netflix announced layoffs of about 6% of its employees, or roughly 1,000 jobs, Variety reported.

Why it matters: The move adds podcast deal-making experience as Netflix expands its video podcast lineup.
