Saudi-led coalition says it shot down a Houthi ballistic missile aimed at southern Saudi Arabia

Al-Maliki gave no details on the missile's target or any casualties, TRT World reported. On Sunday evening he said a drone launched toward the same region had been destroyed, according to Al Jazeera and CNN Arabic. Saudi Arabia's Civil Defence briefly issued alerts for Abha, Khamis Mushait and Taif before saying the danger had passed, Al Jazeera and TRT World reported.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said Saudi aircraft carried out 75 air and missile strikes across several Yemeni provinces over the previous 24 hours, according to CNN Arabic and Shafaq News.

Why it matters: The coalition has reported intercepting several Houthi missiles aimed at Riyadh and eastern Saudi Arabia in recent days, according to TRT World and Al Arabiya, as cross-border attacks between the two sides escalate.
