Johor-Singapore economic zone has drawn 88.83 billion ringgit in approved investments, ministers say

About 45% of those investments, roughly 40.3 billion ringgit, have been implemented and have created 12,796 jobs, the joint statement said, according to CNA. The approved projects are expected to create 28,755 jobs in total. The figures were released after the first meeting of the Johor-Singapore Cooperation Ministerial Committee, held at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.

Why it matters: The two countries set up the zone in January 2025 with a goal of attracting global investment and creating 20,000 skilled jobs in its first five years, CNA reported.
