UN biodiversity talks in Yerevan end with plan to speed up nature targets

The conference's first global review found progress has been too slow to meet the 2030 targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, Carbon Brief and Armenpress reported. Xinhua said more than 100 countries reached agreements at the closing session.

Divisions remained over biodiversity finance, harmful subsidies and scientific evidence, according to Xinhua.

Why it matters: The framework commits governments to halt and reverse nature loss by 2030, and the review is the first formal check on whether they are on track.
