Singapore's PAP re-elects top leadership with no new names

Party chairman Desmond Lee announced the top 12 vote-getters, a list that for the first time included National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat, The Straits Times and The Business Times reported. The other 11 included Lawrence Wong and Lee Hsien Loong. Ministers Tan See Leng and Zaqy Mohamad were co-opted by party custom as the next two highest vote-getters.

More than 2,000 cadres voted, The Business Times reported. The Straits Times said further renewal now rests on co-option, with four spots left to fill on the committee.

Why it matters: The central executive committee is the PAP's top decision-making body, and its makeup signals who leads Singapore's governing party.
