Peacock posts second straight quarterly profit in Comcast's third-quarter results

Peacock ended September with 48 million paid subscribers, up 17% from a year earlier and unchanged from the end of June, according to Comcast's Oct. 22 results and CNBC. The service raised its prices in August, and its quarter included advertising revenue from the FIFA World Cup.

Comcast said Universal became the first studio to pass $5 billion at the global box office in 2026, led by The Odyssey, now Universal's highest-grossing film with nearly $1.8 billion worldwide. The company said the planned spin-off of NBCUniversal and Sky is expected to be completed in the middle of 2027.

Why it matters: Peacock and the film studio are part of the media business that Comcast plans to separate into its own public company.
